George:
Lorraine was truly a gift to our family. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful Sister for Steve and I and Aunt for our girls. Evelyn, Lilly, and Connie loved her enthusiasm about their lives and encouragement on Instagram about what was to come. They'll miss those posts from her which were always a special surprise.
We will miss Lorraine very much. She brought such joy to all of us.
Love Faith, Steve, Evelyn, Lilly, and Connie

I am so saddened by Lorraine's passing. While it's common to say she was too young, it's so very true. Lorraine was always a woman of grace and kindness. I worked with her at Bowers and Ruddy when we were both oh so very young and treasure the memories I have of her as well as the friendship. May she now keep the angels busy!

Lorraine will always be a special aunt to Ryan, Hailey, Hannah, and I. Our beach visits were so much fun and hold such special memories for us. One of my favorite memories is when she and George opened their home to my entire extended family and we cooked pizzas in their pizza oven. Many stories and laughs were had that night. Wine was spilled and laughter continued. She had a way of making everyone feel at home and enjoy the evening.
Other fun memories include taking our girls to the beach for the first time, cat sitting, and many, many delicious meals.
Most recently, Ryan was fortunate enough to spend some time with Lorraine and help care for her. It was a special time that he is grateful to have had.
Lorraine always took the time to honor each of us on our special days. We will miss getting see her , but will forever cherish the memories we have of her.

Lorraine was my fun, caring, and adventurous sister. When Lorraine was in elementary school, she took me to school for show-and-tell. She got me on the school bus and off we went. That trip was the beginning of our close bond we shared as siblings.
Lorraine loved traveling and researching special foods and places to visit on her trips with George. As adults, we shared this new bond of food and travel. I would send pictures to her of my new dishes and write a culinary review to go with it. She always looked forward to a photo popping up at dinner time and wishing we were together to share it.
My sister was one of a kind. She was intelligent, generous, and always had a smile on her face. She loved sharing her home and heart with me. I will miss her each and every day. Each time I do the Patten wine swirl, I know she will be laughing and enjoying life in Heaven.

Bob, I've heard that show-and-tell story. Got to be unique. And I read Chef Roberto's self reviews many a night, experiencing with Lorraine the great love she had (and has) for you. Thank you and Linda, for being my family and for everything I'll never remember to tell you. George

Lorraine was my sister-in-law, but really my friend. She was so warm, caring and generous. Whenever I came to visit, she had always put some special things aside for me. She often gave me samples of creams she enjoyed, or clothes, or knick knacks for my home. Everywhere I look, I see Lorraine’s gifts. On birthdays, she started my day with champagne and a gift. It really made me feel special. I loved our chats over coffee or wine. She was so intelligent, insightful, and realistic. I loved the bond she shared with her brother Bob. They would FaceTime in the mornings at least once a week to keep in touch and be present in each other lives. I miss her immensely and hope she is swirling her wine in heaven.

George, Ann and I are so sorry for your loss. As trite as that sounds, it is from the heart. Although Lorraine's and my friendship goes back 57 years or so contacts have been fleeting for many later years. We go back to West High School where she was 1 year behind me as class of '67. Our little group ran together creating life long memories which I continue to cherish. Clive Starkey Lennon, her nom de plume at the time, was a compassionate, clever, intelligent soul. We both were fans of Lawrence Ferlinghetti which speaks volumes. She sat with me nearly every day, playing Risk, while I was hospitalized for a couple of months back in '67-68.
The last time I saw her, and met you, was when your island house was still under construction. You were both great hosts and tour guides. Although contact has been sparse through these latter years the thoughts of her have always been close at hand.
I still treasure the notes she sent me in later years full of humor, and oh so inventive.

There are so many words I could use to describe my dear friend Lorraine, but the one that most perfectly captures her essence is kind. She was, above all else, a lovingly kind person who opened her heart to everyone in her life and blessed us all with the gift of her respect, love and acceptance. I met Lorraine nearly forty years ago and I remember, as clearly as if it was yesterday, the radiant warmth of her smile, the gentleness of her embrace and the way her eyes drew me in to her. Though we didn’t yet know each other, I felt seen by Lorraine and I knew, in that brief moment, I had met a soulmate. I treasure my memories of Lorraine and know, as I mourn her passing, that she lives on in my heart.

Thank you, Rob, this is beautifully and movingly said. She was my guiding light for kindness as well, not my strong suit, but I followed her lead as in so many ways she helped me grow into a better person. She'll continue be with me in all ways at all times, as she will be with those who knew her well. George

Tom and I met Lorraine on Palm Island when she and George rented our house while theirs was being built. I admit I was a tad intimidated at first by this classy, Hollywood couple. But it didn’t take long to get comfortable around them and soon we were going to each other’s houses for parties, exploring dining options in Sarasota, and once even vacationed in San Francisco and Big Sur together. Lorraine became my source for good books, good food, good hotels, and good movies. She was also my introduction into the soul world. I’m going to miss her huge, open heart, her intellect, her laugh, and her sage advice. But I know she’s still with us in spirit and so I’m going to continue to confide in her and listen carefully for her replies. My heart goes out to George, who will miss her most of all. They were one of the truly happy couples. See you on the other side. Love, Sue and Tom

I met Lorraine in 1987 when we were students in a graduate program in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica in Santa Barbara.
As therapists-in-training, the atmosphere encouraged each of us to explore and to share the depths and textures of our inner lives and of our personal and private stories. Needless to say, you get to know each other very well. A few of us became life long friends after the program ended. I was fortunate to be able to count Lorraine as a cherished friend. She and I would meet for an occasional dinner and talk about anything and everything. I recall her kindness and wisdom, her depth and understanding and her sense of humor. Maybe most of all, I remember her wonderful and interesting eyes: intelligent, perceptive, joyful and even a bit mischievous; but eyes that expressed her tremendous capacity for compassion and empathy. It was one of her great gifts I think.
My condolences to George and to her family.
Rest in peace Lorraine.

Lorraine was my friend from the first moment I met her. We shared so many common interests; food, health and going to the organic farm in Punta Gorda. I still wear the sister clothing castoffs Lorraine gave me. I still carry in my wallet the list of fruits with the most pesticide. She was so very knowledgeable about so many things. Here are a few of the photo memories of our friend Lorraine; Thanksgiving, meetings and parties with neighbors on Don Pedro and Lunch with the “Fun Chicks”. We will miss you!

My darling Lorraine! So many memories shared.
We met at graduate school in Santa Barbara on October 30, 1987. Our program was an intense three day weekend once a month for two years, sharing in the deepest way with each other. We weren't only learning counseling psychology but undergoing our own process together during those special days. I remember too how excited and happy she was when George would be coming up for lunch. She was deeply in love then and remained so to the end. She was ALWAYS thinking of the comfort of others. Even in her last days she was making sure everyone around her had what was needed. She was a wise, deep, and extraordinarily generous friend. So often she opened her home to me and fed me when life was hard and I needed a break. And many New Years and 4th of Julys together at their beautiful 'Cythera' - island home.
With her, goes part of me. We called each other 'Soror' (sister), and surely she was and is mine in soul.
May your journey forward be blessed and beautiful, dearest Soror. See you in the next life.

I met Lorraine in Los Angeles in the early 80's when I took a job at a firm where she was working. We worked in the art department of a numismatic company. We became fast friends and at the time I wasn't really loving LA, but she made it fun for me and really showed me around. We used to love going to Charlie's for breakfast in the Farmer's Market early on Saturday mornings. Pancakes with a poached egg on top! She was so compassionate and energetic. I don't know how I would have gotten through the ten years I spent there without her.
We lost touch after I moved back to NYC although I did see her once. I tried to find her, but couldn't. To my great surprise and delight she found me here in Tucson in 2018. I couldn't believe I was hearing her voice again. We kind of picked up where we left off and she was just as wonderful as ever and I was thrilled to renew our friendship. She is one of a kind and I will miss her desperately. Her light will shine over us all through every sunrise and sunset. I love you dearly, my friend. Safe and peaceful passage wherever you go next.

I am so grateful for the wonderful moments I shared with Lorraine - especially our trip to Manhattan together with Jutta gave all three of us such special memories. We watched the nutcracker together and Lorraine had tears in her eyes when the snowflakes were dancing. Lorraine was such a special and dear friend to me. I am so sad. Sharing a memory of time spent with Lorraine is easy, deciding which one to share is the hard part. We went to school together, and although the years are many I seem to remember the West High ones the best. Passing notes while Mr Clark scratched his psoriasis! Playing Beatle records until we had them memorized with an hour. John Lennon poetry --- Lorraine's note passing name was Clive, Carol was Danoota and I Def Ted ( funny now that I married a man named Ted!) I am so sorry for your loss and those words are both not easy to say nor to hear. Bobby, I know you best - please hug the family for me. Debbi Lepak Dyrda
