We are so sad to learn of the recent passing of Al Gelford. Our deepest sympathy to Al’s family and friends.
I worked at Ten Beach Drive in the 1980’s when Al was the owner. Al always was a pleasant man to work with. I said work with, not worked for. That’s because Al never talked to us as being below him, I never heard Al talk down to anyone. Those days were so wonderful as we saw St. Pete grow from a sleepy retirement town to a vibrant metro area. Ten Beach was a driving force in St. Pete’s growth and Al Gelford was the reason for success coming to downtown attractions. Being a part of that Ten Beach family was pivotal to us becoming permanent residence in St. Pete and for many of us who migrated here. Thanks to Al we were able to meet the finest families of St. Pete, as well as influential seasonal visitors to the area. Our business at Ten Beach was always strong under Al’s guidance and made possible by the evidence that our community loved this man as we did as his employees. We appreciate all the great times and friendships you made possible Al. You have touched many lives in such a positive way. Rest In Peace Al.
