It is with great sadness that I just learned of Barry's passing. He was a giant in the EMS world and his advice was always precious to me. I remember with great fondness the good times when we attended the AAA convention in New Orleans with Shirley and my wife Priscilla. I will miss those lunches everytime I went to the St. Pete area. He was a wise and passionate man and I feel very privileged to call him my friend.

Barry had the foresight to see EMS as something other than a collection of competing funeral homes and private companies. He helped lead the infant EMS system into a national leader copied by many. He will be missed. Shalom

Dad, today one of the toughest days of my life, we will lay to eternal rest. While its not easy, I realize we will reunite again someday and we all feel some comfort in knowing that you are back together with Mike, your folks, Paul, John and Billy.
We will take care of mom so you need not worry about her. We miss you like its been a hundred years already. We all loved and respected you so much, only hope we can make you proud as we proceed through life's journey. You have left a wonderful legacy for the grandchildren and they are so proud to share your name.
Peace and love always

My first memories of Barry were in the 34th street office his leg in a cast as the midnight dispatcher. Once ambulatory he became general manager; he never stopped moving up. He always loved running calls. To call him an icon understates his contribution; he was a mainstay in getting ambulances away from funeral homes in Pinellas County and moving to Advanced Life Support. The lives saved by him directly and indirectly thru his mentorship are immeasurable. My condolences to his family; a truly great man he will be missed. God speed my friend

Barry was, indeed, a big part of the foundation upon which I've built my career in EMS. I worked closely with him at the Office of the Medical Director and he remains a valued friend and mentor. My thoughts and prayers are with Shirley and the rest of Barry's family. I join with many of my colleagues in saying "We love you and will miss you Barry"!

This note is very tough for me. Barry and I hit it off as friends the week he retired.. We golfed ., laughed, dined, spent events of the year together with he and his lovely Shirley "little bit". The "Bearance', as I called him ,was a close enduring friend. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family Steve, Cheri, Deb, and especially his wife Shirley. We will certainly miss him very much. May he be in the "Palm of His Hands".

Mr. mogul was one of the true leaders in EMS years ago before anybody even got the idea. I took my first EMT class with his son and knew him from the very beginning in St. Petersburg. He is one of the great ones who will be missed

Growing up without the presence of a father, I didn't have a role model of what a good man was. There were two people in my life that helped me see what that truly is and one was Barry. He was a great friend and exceptional leader, teacher and had an outstanding sense of rumor.
Thanks for always believing in me.
Love you Buddy!
