Dr Marantz was an account of mine since late 80s. Also took time to talk to me and such a gentleman. I was so happy when he and Ann were married. Bless all of the family. He will always be remembered. Take care. Ben Jones

As a colleague of Joel’s for those nearly fifty years, I always considered him a close friend. When he was the President of the Pinellas Optometric Society and I was the secretary there was seldom a week that we were not on the phone to one another. A very bright, astute professional. I have missed seeing him at our meetings over the past couple of years. My best to you, Ann and the rest of the family.

Dr. Marantz was my doctor (and my husband, Al's) for 30+ years. I always enjoyed my time at his office because he was so friendly and personable. Until I met him, I had never called a doctor by his first name. But Joel didn't mind; he seemed to encourage it. Our deepest sympathy to his entire family. Ann, may you find love in your heart and happiness in your memories.

Dr Marantz was the only optometrist I had in Pinellas County from 1981 until his retirement. He took care of not only myself but my two daughters, one at the age of 4 and the other from middle school on. He was always so friendly and wanted to make sure you could see the best he could offer. God Bless him on his journey and God be with Ann and the family during this difficult time. You will all be in my prayers.

Dr. Marantz was my eye doctor ever since I moved to the area over 30 years ago. When I moved my elderly mother here from up North, she became his patient also. He was always so friendly and was patient with her when she started to get dementia. I have a heavy heart!

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Marantz’s passing. I was in his office this week and always feel his presence even though he has gone on. The certificates on the wall still have his name on them. I can hear him saying, “better or worse” while giving me my eye exam. I truly enjoyed knowing him and hope to see him again someday.

I have known Joel since we were both 16. We played ball together, laughed together, and discussed what was going on in the world. I considered him my best friend - all through the years.
Certainly, he was my Optometrist. Naturally, he made it fun, like showing me the highest prescription possible and telling me that was going to be in my next pair of glasses. To say the least, It was beyond blurring! We pulled pranks on each other all the time. What I'm trying to say is that his friendship was a big loss to me.
I moved from St. Petersburg in 1971. I went back there every year to see him professionally, even though I can literally walk to an Optometrist from where I live. A big part, of course, was to see my friends Joel and Anne.
Good-bye, my friend. You gave me a lot of joy in my life.
