Maurice “Van” VanCleave died peacefully, May 22, 2021, aged 94, surrounded by family, in St. Petersburg FL where he had lived since 2018. He formerly lived in Sarasota FL 1985-2018; Lima OH 1975-1985; Elwood IN 1956-1975; Detroit MI 1948-1956; and Huntingdon TN where he was born and raised. He served as a Seabee in the Navy on Okinawa during World War II. He retired in 1985 as a division president after 37 years with Ex-Cell-O Corp.
He was preceded in death by parents Clyde and Lela (Ingle) VanCleave; sisters Ruth Hampton, Dorothy Vancleave, and Elizabeth Parker. He is survived by Ella Jane (Webb), his wife of 72 years; sister Patricia Kight; brother-in-law John Parker; sons Dale, Ted, and Gary; daughters-in-law Christine and Karen; grandsons Mark and Luke; nephews Jerry Hampton, Joe Hampton, and John Clark Kight; and niece, Judy Beal.
