Obituary of Mary Ann O'Grady

Mary Ann O'Grady, of St. Petersburg, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016. Mary Ann was born in New York, moved to St. Petersburg with her family in 1954 as a young girl and went on to graduate from St. Paul's Catholic High School. In her earlier years she worked for Montgomery Ward and the St. Petersburg Times. She was a Realtor for 30+ years, derived much joy from helping people of the community with their real estate needs and was still very active in the industry. Mary Ann was an active volunteer / supporter of St Anthony's Hospital, St. Vincent DePaul Homeless Shelter, Music Sweet Music and many other charitable organizations. Mary Ann was an avid patron and supporter of St. Petersburg's vibrant cultural Arts scene, was an active member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with her large group of family and friends. Mary Ann is survived by her three children, Jeannie O'Grady, Janet O'Grady and Thomas O'Grady (wife: Nicole), two brothers, John and Richard Orr, two grandsons, Dennis and Clinton Murchison, one Granddaughter, Jennifer Scott (husband: James), two Great-Grandchildren, Karlee and Gavin Scott, several nieces and nephews and her significant other Max Caston. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents George and Gertrude Orr, brother George Orr and sisters, Virginia Orr and Alice Lay. A memorial service will be held March 19, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1800 12th Street N., St. Petersburg. Seating will begin at 10:30am, Mass begins PROMPTLY at 11:30am. Celebration of Life with family and friends will follow at a location to be announced at the service. Flower arrangements can be made through The Flower Centre 727-823-3432.
