My dad served with Manny during the was. My mom also knew him as she was an Army Nurse. Of the 83rd veterans, Manny was one of her favorites. He thought so much of dad that he gave me his copy of "See It Through" (the book about the 331st Regiment) before his move to Florida. I last saw him at the DC reunion in 2013 and spoke with him on the phone a few times after that. He was one of the best and is sorely missed.

I'm a descendant of an 83rd soldier, Capt. John McNamara, and want to extend my sympathy for loss. They are a wonderful group of men!

Manny was always a true gentleman. I knew him through the 83rd Intranfanty Division. We went to Europe and most of the reunions after that. He always called me around Christmas time to see how my husband and I were. I enjoyed visiting with him and he will be missed. The 83rd will miss him too. Elizabeth Faber Brusa

Manny originally trained with the 63rd Infantry division before being transferred to the 83rd. He served in the 83rd Infantry, 331st Regiment, Companies K and L during World War 2. He landed with Company L on Omaha Beach about two weeks after D-Day. He fought in the hedgerows of Normandy and fought through France and into Germany where he continued to serve in the 83rd during the occupation after the war ended.
He was a Charter Member of the 83rd Infantry Division Association, attending its first reunion in Cleveland Ohio in 1947. Manny also served for many years on the Association’s Executive Board, including two terms as its Chairman. He cared deeply about his buddies in the 83rd. He will be missed.
