Obituary of Beverly A. Hoot

HOOT, Col. (Ret.) Beverly A., 73 of St. Petersburg. Died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Bayfront Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. Born in Hart, Michigan, she came here in 1972 from Washington D.C. She attended St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg. She retired a Full Colonel after 37 years of service in the Army. She was a graduate of Army Command and General Staff College.She received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Her tours of duty included Japan, Korea, Ft. Lee, Virginia, the 3rd Army Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, Army Reserve Command in Washington D.C., and as commander of the 32nd Transportation Group Army Reserves in Tampa. She was a member of the Officers Reserve Association and lifetime member of VFW Post # 2752 in Schenevus, New York. Survivors include her friend, Jean M. Trask, St. Petersburg. David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, Central Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg. Memorial Service will be 11 AM on Monday, February 21, 2005 at St. Batholomew's Episcopal Church, 3747 34th Street South, St. Petersburg. Interment will follow in the church columbarium.
