Obituary of James Arthur Dunning

DUNNING - James A., age 73, of South Pasadena, passed away Friday, April 08, 2005 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital in South Pasadena. Born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, he moved to Florida in 1977 from Johnsville, Pennsylvania. He was a 1954 graduate of the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland where he earned a B.S. degree in naval science. He was a graduate of the US Naval Post Graduate Scholl in Monterey, California where he earned a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering and was a graduate of the US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Following his retirement from the US Navy in 1977 after twenty-six years of service, including Vietnam, he was an instructor for twenty-one years having taught Navy Junior R.O.T.C., physics, math/calculus at Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg and at Auburndale High School in Auburndale, Florida. He was a life time member of the VFW Post #4945 in Auburndale. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Joyce, a son, Douglas Edward of Bradenton, a daughter-in-law, Ellen Dunning, of Bradenton, two brothers, John C. and Thomas R., both of Ellwood, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Charlotte Mills of Phoenix, Arizona and Janet McKissick of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and three grandchildren.Mr. Dunning was predeacesed by his son, Mark. Private cremation services are being held with burial to follow in Mrs. Dunning's family plot in Virginia. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society or the American Heart Association in loving memory of Mr. James A. Dunning. David C.
