Obituary of Anna Jean Volpe

VOLPE - Anna Jean, age 94, of Tierra Verde, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg. Born in Bari, Italy, she moved to New York in 1918 and came to Tierra Verde in 1960 from Harrison, New York. Her late husband, Americus, was the primary plumbing contractor who worked hand in hand with the Berlanti family, who she was related to by the marriage of her late daughter, Jean to the late Frederick Berlanti, in developing and building the first original houses on Tierra Verde. She lived in one of the first built homes for the remainder of her life. She was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in St. Petersburg and was active in its sewing group. She was a volunteer in the gift shop at Bayfront Medical Center for thirty years. Survivors include one daughter, Rose Ames of Southington, Connecticut; two sisters, Eleanor Longo and Catherine D'Andria, both of Norwich, Connecticut; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, Central Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg, is in charge of arrangements. Friends will be received at the David C. Gross Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2005 from 4-6PM, where a prayer service will be at 4PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30AM Wednesday at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 1600 54th Avenue South with Fr. Fred McGuire, celebrant. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens.
