In that role, he formed an alliance with area NAACP leaders to fight social restrictions and segregation practices that existed at that time. He also served as treasurer of Chateau Towers Condominium in South Pasadena. Today, its Social Hall bears his name in honor of his years of service. He also served on the oversight board for the Firefighters pension fund for the City of South Pasadena. In 2002, he was presented with the Key to the City.
