Obituary of Frederick A. Bassi

BASSI - Frederick A., 78, of Largo, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at Kindred Hospital of St. Petersburg. Born in New York City, he came to Florida in 1980 from the Bronx. He was a groundskeeper for the city of New York highway department for twenty-eight years and was Catholic. He was a former member of Elk's Lodge #24, St. Petersburg, and the Sons of Italy. Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years, Lena; two daughters, Regina and Victoria Bassi, both of St. Petersburg; one step-son, Bart Savino of Largo; two step-daughters, Celeste Haworth of St. Petersburg and Margaret Varnackas of Lake City, Florida and two grandchildren. Private cremation services were held. Interment will take place in Bay Pines National Cemetery at a later date. David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, Central Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg is serving the family. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
