Obituary of John Joseph Schneider

John J. Schneider, 95, of Solon, OH and Treasure Island, FL, passed away in his sleep on Friday, June 2, 2006 at Menorah Manor Nursing Home, St. Petersburg, FL. Born February 25, 1911 in Cleveland, OH, he was one of seven children born to Maria and George Schneider . Mr. Schneider was self -employed and owner of Schneider Sales from 1958 to 1982 which supplied products to the railroad industry .He was a Lieutenant in the Merchant Marines, serving on the Army transport "Belle Isle". He was Catholic. At the time ofhis death, John was the longest living member, 71 years, of Chagrin Valley Country Club in Moreland Hills. John loved the game of golf and his successes included 16 Chagrin Valley Country Club Championships and 7 Cleveland District Championships. John will be deeply missed by: wife of57 years, Juanita (Jacoby), Richard (Patricia) ofWilloughby, OH; Joni (Seno) Soekotjo of San Mateo, CA; Paula (Steve) Shay of Kent, OH; John (ponna) of Mission Viejo, CA; a brother Leo (Ginny) Schneider of Louisville, KY and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Maria and George Schneider, siblings Matt, Rudy, Josephine, Mary and Father George Schneider . Contributions can be made in memory of John J. Schneider to Little Sisters of the Poor, 4291 Richmond Road, Beachwood, OH 44122. Memorial services in Cleveland, OH are pending. Memorial gathering will be held at David C. Gross Funeral Home, 6366 Central Ave. St Petersburg, FL 33707 from 5:30PM - 7:30PM, with service at 6:00PM on Tuesday June 6; Ph 727-381-4911 Remains will be interred at Calvary Cemetery , 10000 Miles Ave., Cleveland, OH 44105 at a future date to be announced.
