Obituary of John W. Boerker

BOERKER - John W., 83, of St. Petersburg, passed away Friday, August 4, 2006 at Bay Pines VA Health Center. He came to Florida in 1943 from his native Mt. Tremper, N.Y. He was in the US Army having served in WW II and was a DAV. He retired from the Department of Veteran's Affairs at Bay Pines VA Center after fifteen years as a finance officer. He attended Grace Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg and was an active member of the Pinellas county Boy Scouts of America, having received the Silver Beaver Award for his work with inner city Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Nancy; three sons, Bob, of Pinellas Park, Bill, of St. Petersburg and Ralph of Clearwater; one daughter, Nina Marie Boerker of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters, Clara Worsham, of Bradenton, Florida and Florence Adams of Tampa, Fl; three grandchildren, Rob, Keith and Sheyenne Boerker and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at DAVID C. GROSS CENTRAL AVENUE CHAPEL with Pastor Don Keeling officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM until service time. Mr. Boerker was preceded in death by his son, John W. Boerker Jr. David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, Central Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg is serving the family. The family suggests memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Pinellas Council of the Boy Scouts of America or Hospice at Bay Pines VA Hospital. Service Information
