Obituary of Robert J. Brooks

Brooks- Robert Joseph 56 of Palm Bay Florida, formerly of St. Petersburg passed away August 6, 2007 at the Bay Pines Veterans Administration Medical Center. Robert was born September 3rd 1950 at Mound Park Hospital (now Bayfront Medical Center) in St. Petersburg; son of the late Ted and Betty Phelps Brooks. He served with honor and distinction in the United States Air Force for 21 A½ years and retired as a Major. For the past seven years, he worked for the Veterans Administration Regional Office at Bay Pines as a Loan Guarantee Officer. He leaves to mourn his passing, his beloved wife of 38 years Brenda; daughters Charlotte Shillingsburg and Lora Brooks; grandsons Matthew and Alexander; brother Stephen, sisters Marlene, Mary and Charlene; son-in-law, Stephen Shillingsburg; sister-in-law, Karen Diamond of St. Petersburg, Florida; brother and sister-in-law Dale and Charlotte Cook, of St. Petersburg, Florida and many nephews and nieces throughout Florida, the United States and serving abroad. Graveside services will be Friday September 7, 2007 at 2:15 PM at Bay Pines National Cemetery with Mac Dill AFB Honor Guard rendering honors. The family suggests memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Fisher House. at Bay Pines c/o Brenda Brooks at: 500 California Avenue N.E., Palm Bay, Florida 32907. The Fisher House was very compassionate and supportive of the family during the trials of the past month. Their continued work is a cause the family would like to support.
