Obituary of Jerome Silverman

Silverman, Jerome 86, passed away November 16, 2007. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to St. Petersburg as a young child. He graduated St Petersburg High School Class of 1940 and went on to graduate from the University of Oglethorpe in Georgia. After serving his country in the US Air Force, he went on to play professional baseball for several years before becoming a sports activity supervisor at the City of St. Petersburg Rec. Center. He was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel. Survivors include his sister, Corrine (Sidney) Goodman; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Bunnie Katz and Sharon Silverman, both of St. Petersburg and his long time, loving companion, Virginia Cheshire. Mr. Silverman was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Fred. Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 at David C. Gross Funeral Home, 6366 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg, with Rabbi Jacob Luski, D.D. and Hazan David Sislen officiating. Interment will follow at Royal Palm Cemetery, 58th Street and 1st Avenue South in St. Petersburg. David C. Gross Funeral Home is serving the family. The family request memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Association. Service Information
