Obituary of Zlata Kanner

Zlata "Lottie" Kanner- Zlata (Akselrad) Kanner was born in Poland on December 27, 1924. She survived the Holocaust and immigrated to the United States in 1949 with her husband, Moses Kanner, who passed away last April. They were married for 59 years. They settled in Vineland, N.J. and operated a chicken farm until 1967, when they built and operated the Granada Motel in Wildwood Crest, NJ until they retired to St. Petersburg in 1992. They had 2 sons, Bernard "Barry" Kanner (Jacqueline), an attorney in St. Petersburg, and Abraham Kanner, who was an attorney in Atlanta, GA, until his death in March, 2006. Zlata is survived by 5 grandchildren; Richard Kanner, Indianapolis, IN, Brian, Michael and Lauren Kanner, Atlanta, GA, and Eric Kanner, Evanston, IL., and her beloved Toby Weinman ALR family in St. Petersburg. She is survived by 2 nieces, Rivka Elkayam and Batia Bressler, both of Israel. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel and a supporter of many organizations dedicated to peace in the world. She was truly a loving, dedicated wife and mother. Her greatest joy was to bring joy to others. Her smiling face will live on in the memory of those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the David C. Gross Funeral Home Chapel with Rabbi Jacob Luski and Hazzan David Sislen officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Largo. The family suggests memorial donations be made in lieu of flowers to The Menorah Manor Foundation, 255 59th Street N., St. Petersburg, FL. 33710. Service Information
