Obituary of Joseph M. Dvoracsek

Joseph M. Dvoracsek "Capt. Joe", 77, of St. Petersburg, passed away Friday, February 8, 2008 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital following a short illness. Capt. Joe was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He earned a degree as an accountant, but his first love was fishing, especially Tarpon. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1954, opened a tackle shop in Pass A Grille and got his Captain's license soon after. He fished the Suncoast Tarpon Roundup for over thirty years where he was an honorary lifetime member. He leaves a large circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly. Survivors include his loving wife, of twenty-seven years, Juanita (nee Martin); four sons, Charles (Connie) Dvoracsek of St. Petersburg, Florida; Joseph (Julie) Dvoracsek of St. Petersburg, Florida; Douglas Holbrook of Boulder, Colorado and Michael (Lisa) Holbrook of Palm Harbor, Florida; three daughters; Toni Lynn (Bill) Hendrix, of Franklin, North Carolina; Jacqueline Wade of St. Petersburg, Florida and Debra (Kevin) French of Mobile, Alabama; a brother, Tony (Bobbie) Dvoracsek of Colts Neck, New Jersey and a sister, Terry Whitaker of St. Petersburg, Florida; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at the David C. Gross Funeral Home Chapel, 6366 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg. Friends will be received from 2:00 pm through service time.
