I was really saddened to read of Tom's death on The Pilot website. I was planning to call him on his birthday. I didn't know he had moved from Pinehurst. I know he dearly missed Mary. I met your parents through Mary. She was so good to my mom, Ruth Brady, who was a resident of Quail Haven Retirement Village. She visited Mom regularly and always brought special treats like deviled eggs. She and Tom would sometimes take Mom out for rides, etc. When we visited at their home, they would proudly point out pictures of their family. They were angels on this earth...I treasure having known them

I was so sorry tto read of Tom's death in the Pilot this am. He was a wonderful mentor to my grandson, Ian. The whole family appreciated the thoughtfulness and kindness he and Mary showed toward Ian. We have missed him since his move and we have spoken of him often. Tom would have been proud and pleased to know that Ian is a freshman at ECU, partly due to his kindness and concern. Thank you for sharing your dad with us. Joann Hanley, grandmother of Ian Gillespie.

My second Dad. I will never forget how nervous I was to meet him for the first time. He accepted me and showed me the love of a true "Dad". I will cherish the memories forever. Godspeed Dad! Love you always.
