Obituary of Lynda M. Valpacchio

A Celebration for Mom: Family and Friends, We join together today in this bitter-sweet celebration of the life and the eternal life, through Christ Jesus, of Lynda Valpacchio. She was the wife until death of Val, who also went to be with our Lord a year ago froml ast October; she was the mother to Marianne and Lisa, who were at her side when she departed; and she was the grandmother and great-grandmother to their children and their offspring, who all knew them more affectionately as"Nana". To the rest of us, she was dearly loved as well, and always a Lady. Her list of character qualities is many. She was certainly an independent thinker. Some among us might even call it stubborn. In spite of,or along with that, she was loving, caring and very generous with all that she had, especially for her family. She was very outgoing and loved to tell her life's stories and experiences to all who would listen, and those experiences were many. She didn't even mind if you had heard them before. She would still tell it with the same enthusiasm each time, which at least for me, made them always interesting to hear again. Among those experiences were times of traveling throughout Italy as a child, attending a convent as a young woman, Her personal visitations with The Lord, working for prominent Boston hotels such as the Stattler, the Bellevue and the Parker House, where she met and entertained, in a manner of speaking, many celebrity people; being a high quality artist, who's many paintings still adorn the walls of family and friends all over; and most of all, living her life and sharing it with family and friends through her gifts of preparing a meal, being health conscious, and giving them her love. In addition to Lynda's good experiences, she also was afflicted with a great many relationship and health challenges throughout her life. Her childhood was not always pleasant due to a poor relationship with her mother. Her first husband, father to Marianne, died unexpectedly at a very early age, leaving her to care for a young daughter alone. Two years later, she married Val and brought Lisa into this world. They too, as any married couple, had their ups-and-downs, yet they saw it through for over fifty years. Through it all Lynda was determined and courageous and kept on going. She is a survivor, by way of miracle healings, of two bouts with cancer, bleeding around the heart, and just last year, while playing with a neighbor child, a bad fall left her with a permanently dislocated shoulder. Yet,through it all, she was determined and courageous and kept on going. There isn't enough time here today to talk about so much more that was the life of Lynda Valpacchio. She was a passionate, yet gentle, little Victorian Lady who loved Jesus, her family, children, pets, and most of the people she met. She always enjoyed being in the public eye and not hidden away. Yes, Lynda has died, but as the Pastor at New Day Church said on Easter Sunday; "When a Christian has died, it's not the end of the story, it's merely a change of address." We will all miss her dearly. We thank God for her life and for her eternal life. Lynda M. Valpacchio passed away March 11, 2008 in Hinsdale, Illinois.
