Terry- Darlene was a very special person and one of the strongest people I have ever known. She fought a tough battle. She amazed me on a daily basis, she would go to chemo and radiation and later come to work with a smile on her face and work like no other. Darlene loved you very much and I am sure you know that, one of her biggest concerns when she was sick-was you. She voiced her concerns about you, if she were to pass. Who would cut the grass and take care of the yard, who would take care of the pool... etc.. She wasn't thinking about herself but of those she would leave behind. Darlene may be gone in body but not in spirit.

I first met Darlene at work at SSA over 30 years ago. She has always been unique. Her spirit and drive were inspiring. I loved the strength, independent spirit and love of life that she and Terry shared. They became and remain our family's dear friends. I know Terry's strength and her fond memories of Darlene will sustain her through this loss. Darlene may now be out of our sight but she will never be out of our thoughts. I will miss her deeply.

Terry...We always had such a great time with Darlene in whatever we were doing. You both were such a joy to be around and now Darlene is in a much better place without pain looking down on us all. She'll be there with us in spirit in whatever we are doing. We love you lots and are there for you for everything and of course, you know that. Take good care of yourself and that little Noodles.

I was Darlene's first supervisor at the VA in St. Petersburg. She was a thoughtful caring person who was a "team player." Darlene was especially good to John Newman's daughter helping John with the paperwork associated with benefits from Social Security for Beth. The last time JoAnn and I saw Darlene it was at the Red Mesa Restaurant. I consider it a privilege to have known and worked with her. My prayers to all who were touched by her. May God Bless.

Darlene was such an inspiration to me when my mom was battling cancer. She gave me encouragement and consoled me when mom passed. She could keep you laughing with her wit. Her courage with her battle was amazing. I am so sorry for your loss, but know that she is no longer suffering and is at peace with God. She will surely be missed by all.

Terri; Darlene will be so missed, she was always the person who could make taking chemo seem like an afternoon party. I only knew her for a short time but it was long enought to realize what a special person she was. My prayers are with you Terri. Melissa

Terri, I am so sorry for your loss, I made all the "Florida Christmas Tree's" for you and Darlene. Darlene's humor and wit kept me laughing when I worked with her in St. Petersburg. I am sure she is looking down on us with a beer in her hand! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Terry, I am so lost for words right now. I was hoping against hope that Darlene could beat the odds. She was in good spirits and she did love to have fun. I had the pleasure of sitting across from Darlene for a few months prior to her retirement. When I heard that she was battling cancer, I was in disbelief. How could someone going through so much still come to work every day and smile, crack jokes, and willingly help others. Darlene was quite a fighter and an inspiration to all who knew her. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to know her & only wish that I would have met her sooner. She will be missed greatly.

Dear Terry: We will miss Darlene's smile, her laugh and her love of sports but most of all we will feel her loss more than you know. She fought the fight with grace and dignity but the goal you both sought was not meant to be. Please know that your Cody's family has you in our hearts. With love, Marge

Terri, I was so sad to learn Darlene had passed. She was a great person and always had lots of stories to tell about her treatment. I felt very confident she would beat cancer just because she had such a strong will to live and always spoke about all the traveling the two of you were going to do after she retired & finished treatment. She always had me laughing. She would come into my office to turn your football pool sheets in and stand a round a chat for close to an hour. I will definately miss you two playing the office pool. You are in my thoughts & prayers.

We've been friends for over 25 years! Wow. I will always remember Darlene's smile and sense of humor. A true gator and buc fan. She new how to bet the odds and win. I loved that about her. She will be watching from the best seat in the house when the season starts with a cold one in her hand. I miss her already. God bless you Terri and am so sorry for your loss of her love for you. Stay strong.
