Adelle Adkins and myself are so saddened at the loss of not only our neighbor, but also someone who became a good friend with us. Sid was a man not only of great intellegence, but also of great humanity. He will be sorely missed here, at Stratford Court.

Sidney Goetz was a long term leader, contributor and supporter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). He made significant contributions to civil liberties in many areas. His voice was strong and thoughtful. I knew Sidney as a member of the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Florida. I joined the ACLU of Florida Board in approximately 1988 and I believe that Sidney was one of the members of the ACLU of Florida Board for years before I joined. Thank you Sidney for everything that you did for the ACLU and the cause of freedom. Steve Phillippy Vice President of the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Florida

It is with regret and sadness that we must acknowledge the departure from our Midst of the irreplaceable Sidney Goetz. Sidney was by philosophical conviction, life practice, and formal association, a Humanist. He served for nearly a decade on the board of the American Humanist Association. He was an early president of the Humanists of Florida Association, and still, on the board of the Humanist Society of the Suncoast. He touched the lives of many in ways large and small, but always with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, and in all ways a gentle benevolence that was an eddy of compassion in a sea of contention. He was not always what you might expect, but invariably, was more than you might hope. We may have lost a living presence of great magnitude, but history has gained another exemplar of a human life best realized. James T Peterson President, The Humanist Society of the Suncoast
