Obituary of Miguel Angel Fonte

Beloved son and brother, passed away peacefully at Saint Anthony's hospital surrounded by his family on July 15th 2008, just days after his 35th birthday. Mike, is survived by his parents, Jose and Lissett Fonte and his sister, Danay Fonte-Houser. Born in Havana, Cuba on July 3, 1973, his family immigrated to the United States when he was six years old. He is a graduate of Gibbs High School and a graduate of the University of Florida with a double major in Chemistry and Zoology. After college, he taught honors physics and chemistry at St. Petersburg High School. Though he loved teaching, helping clients as a Certified Financial Planner became his passion. Most recently he worked as a Vice President and Financial Advisor at Morgan Keegan. Mike lived life enthusiastically and touched every person he met in a special way. He was an adventurer who enjoyed fishing, dirt biking, range shooting, golfing, and anything related to the Florida Gators. He also loved his big Cuban family, his girlfriend Jessica, and his German Shepherd puppy, Millie. An avid traveler, Mike visited South Africa, Nicaragua, Bimini, and the Florida Keys in just the past year. Over the last several months, Mike fought valiantly against Medullary Thyroid Cancer, a rare and incurable disease. Funeral service will be 2 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the David C. Gross Central Avenue Chapel. Friends will be recieved at the funeral home from 1 PM until service time. Cremation will follow.
