Obituary of Ruth L. Walker

Ruth (Hamm) Walker was born in Covington, Kentucky on August 9, 1927. Ruth moved to Tampa, Florida where she worked as a hostess at the Floridian Hotel. It was there that she met and eventually married Estill B. Walker, who was employed by Ford Motor Company. They moved to Treasure Island and opened Walker Ford in 1957. It was the first Ford dealership on the beaches of Pinellas County. After the passing of Estill B. Walker, Ruth became the president of Walker Ford, one of the very few female presidents to operate a Ford dealership. One of Ruth's greatest passions were her animals, especially dogs. Ruth was a large supporter and contributor to the S.P.C.A. Ruth is survived by her two sons Frank and Gary Walker, the late Clyde Walker, granddaughter Miracole Walker Burns, two grandsons Weston and Ryan Walker, two daughters in law Karen and Carole Walker.
