Obituary of Rabbi Daniel Treiser

Rabbi Daniel Nathan Treiser, 46 of Safety Harbor died August 17, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Caren Treiser, sister, Jody Treiser Greenspon, wife Rachel Levine Treiser, and children, Elana, 16 and Ethan, 13. He was born on December 21, 1971 and raised in Queens, NY by loving parents, Irwin Treiser, z"l and Caren. Rabbi Treiser led his congregation at Temple B'nai Israel in Clearwater beginning in July 2008. Prior to that, he served as the Associate Rabbi of Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El in Plantation, FL following his ordination at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York. A product of the Reform synagogue, youth and camp movements, he earned his BA in Communications from Queens College in NY in 1993 and then dedicated a year of his life to community service in Israel on Project Otzma. Inspired by the rabbis who taught him throughout his youth, Rabbi Treiser committed his career to engaging today's Jewish youth in creative and informal educational opportunities. He served on the rabbinic faculty of URJ Camp Coleman for more than ten years and was a rabbinic advisor to NFTY-STR, the regional Reform Jewish Youth Group. The positive impact he had on so many lives is immeasurable. Rabbi Treiser was a member of the Pinellas County Board of Rabbis, an active supporter of the Jewish Federation of Pinellas and Pasco Counties, the JCC Suncoast and Gulf Coast Jewish Children and Family Services. He participated in several interfaith community programs and served for many years on the board of SEACCAR, the South East Association of the Central Conference of American Rabbis. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday August 19, 2018 at Temple B'nai Israel, 1685 S. Belcher Rd. in Clearwater. Private burial will follow. Shiva will be 7:00 PM Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Temple B'nai Israel.
