Obituary of James D. Kurt

James (Jim) D. Kurt 62, resident of St. Petersburg, FL died peacefully on May 12th, 2014, at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL, after a year-long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Cremation services were private. His ashes will be interned with his beloved mother in Madison, WI. Jim was born on February 18th, 1952 in Madison, Wisconsin to Edwin and Eileen (Powers) Kurt. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a degree in Botany in 1974 and has lived in St. Petersburg, FL since 2002, having previously resided in Boston MA, Philadelphia PA, Danbury, CT and Madison, WI. While in St. Petersburg, he worked as a pre-press technician at Gulf Coast Imprinting in Largo, Fl. Jim was an avid gardener and a skilled photographer with a particular flair for the culinary arts. His dedication to his partner Luis, his sister Louise, niece Sara and his extended family were only surpassed by his love for life. Jim is survived by his loving partner of 20 years, Luis Villalona of St Petersburg, sister Lousie, brothers Joseph (Paulette), William (Faye) and Kenneth, sister-law Mary and numerous nieces and nephews all in the Madison, Wisconsin area. His parents and his brother Thomas preceded him in death. His family, many friends and co-workers will dearly miss him. A private cremation has been planned.
