Obituary of Viola Coleman-Spinner

Viola (Vi) Louise Coleman-Spinner was born on Nov 4, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away on April 20th, 2023 in Treasure Island, FL at the age of 96.  Vi was the daughter of William and Clara Wiebe and was the youngest of 10 children.   She is survived by her 4 children, Sandy (Joe) Schon, Daryl (Cathy) Coleman, Robert (Laura) Coleman and Allen (Vickie) Coleman.  Also 6 grandchildren, Rebecca (Stuart) Voboril, Michael Schon, Monica (Josh) Ekstrom, Kyle (Sierra) Coleman, Anna Coleman, Amy Coleman and her great grandchildren Ethan and Finn.

Vi loved school as a child and was an excellent student.  Although she only attended school through the 8th grade in order to help her mother at home, she did attend a secretarial school at a later age and after much determination ultimately received her high-school diploma at the age of 42, one of her proudest accomplishments.

Vi married Rolla Coleman (1947 – 1977) and had 4 children who became the focus of her life.   Vi was a devout Christian and loved going to Ballwin Baptist church with her family.  She worked part time at Kroger and then Schnucks for almost 30 years and was loved by her many customers.  She kept very busy during that time by attending her kids' ball games, cooking lots of yummy meals, painting and even taking belly dancing lessons for fun.

In 1990 Vi married Frank Richard (Dick) Spinner.  Shortly thereafter they moved to Treasure Island, Florida where they became actively involved in the community, managed a putt-putt course, bought a boat, and made many close friends.  Mom loved having her family visit her in Florida, once hosting her granddaughter, Rebecca, and 3 friends to celebrate their high-school graduation.

Vi had a special style about her, looking and acting years younger than her age.  Later in life she continued to wear fashionable clothes, kept fit, and people loved seeing her driving around town in her sporty BMW Z3 convertible.  She was also a lifelong learner, even embracing the latest technology in her senior years.

Vi loved her many dogs throughout the years and most recently adored BD Beau, Coco and then Lexie and who were always by her side.

Our dear mother left a legacy of living life to the fullest and loving unconditionally.  She will forever be in our hearts and dearly missed.
