Obituary of Betty Morgenstein

Betty Morgenstein, of St Petersburg FL on April 6,2023 at the age of 94. Daughter of Dr. David and Bessye Getz, grew up in BelAir, Maryland. She attended the University of Maryland and received both a BA and a Masters degree. She taught in Baltimore City and became an elementary specialist, vice principal and then Principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School where she remained for 13 years.

After she retired, she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she married her beloved Harvey Morgenstein whom she had dated many years before. They were together for almost 30 wonderful years. During that time they traveled and shared many interests. Harvey was president of the Greater Pinellas Democratic Club for 23 years and Betty continued at the club after his death. They both were active in political affairs. During this time Betty was a member and on the boards of Temple Beth- El, where she and Harvey started many social action events. Betty was a longtime member of Tiger Bay, and a lifetime member of Hadassah. She also taught the AARP driving class for 20 years where she lead 100 classes. 
 

Betty had a good sense of humor, was a loyal friend and devoted to her family. She always maintained she was 39 years of age. 
 

Betty is survived by her sister Vivian Krawitz (Irv), sons Dan Morgenstein and Robbie Morgenstein, grandson Jared Morgenstein, granddaughters Hannah and Brandy, great grandsons Jaxson and Bryson and nieces Marsha Samuels (Jeff) and Nancy Ellin.

Interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Park Largo Florida
