I worked with Gary in 1991 when Dr. Bala and I got trained in IOL manufacturing at their lab in Largo, Florida. It was my first overseas trip, and it was exciting. Gary visited Madurai at the end of 1991 and stayed till early February 1992. Gary set up the lab, and I was with him during the entire installation of the various equipment. I used to take him on my moped for some petty purchases and to get a few items machined. He thoroughly enjoyed those two-wheeler rides. Both Gary and Linda helped Aurolab start its journey with three-piece IOL manufacturing with a ten-member team. Today Aurolab has close to 1100 employees and sells its products in many countries, including the three-piece IOLs. Gary’s machines are still working and giving sight to millions of people worldwide. All of us will genuinely miss Gary. We pray for his soul to rest in peace. R.D. Sriram Aurolab

I met Gary in the early ’90s when we came to know that he could be a supplier of Intraocular Lens (IOL) manufacturing technology for Aurolab. At that time both of us had a lot of reservations about our technology partnership. Looking back I feel Gary and his dedicated technical support is one of the major factors for the success and growth of Aurolab. He used to say often that working with us in India is a major highlight of his life. Many of us at Aurolab also felt the same. Thank you Gary for your friendship and support. I worked with Gary to set up the the Aurolab manufacturing facility for intraocular lenses. He made everything easy and it was clear that it was much more than a business deal - we were helping the world to see. Tens of Millions of people have had the gift of sight thanks to Aurolab and it was Gary Goins and Linda Hansen of IOL International that got it all going. Rest In Peace Gary, I know you are in good hands. Yours was a life well lived for all the people you helped to see again through your intelligence and generous spirit. I'm sadden by the loss of Gary. The times I did get to spend with him,,were interesting conversation, and full of humor. I will remember his laugh and smile. To Kelly,,Natalie, Scott, an family I'm sorry for your loss. Gary helped a lot of peo ple. I remember his labs being built his traveling. He was always excited about the next thing. How it would help people see. He talked about his family an his love for them. He also taught me things I won't forget. The keep going, and keep trying, go with your ideas, follow your dreams. Good advice. .R.I.P. Gary you will be missed, and never forgotten.
