Yvonne "Jacki" Whitten-Bowen (nee Davis), 83, of St. Petersburg, passed away on August 20, 2021. Sevice will be held on October 14th, 2021 at Bay Pines National Cemetery at 10am.
Yvonne was born on March 20, 1938 in Bartow ,Fl to loving parents William Davis and Ruby Slaughter. She was a graduate of Brandon High School.
In 1956, she met and married Tampa native Frank Whitten, and moved to Wellswood. She was a loving and devoted mother to his children James "Jimmy" Whitten (1946-2006) and Debra Whitten Norris(1951-2016). In August of 1961, they were blessed with a son, Frank "Frankie" Whitten, to complete their family. Many happy years, happy tears and beautiful memories created. In 1996, she met and married Captain Kirby Bowen of Washington. They lived happily together until his untimely death in 2017.
"Jack", to friends and family, was truly a gift to this world, especially to those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. She was selfless and loved whole heartedly. Family was most important to her. Her children were her blessings. And when they struggled, she struggled. She was a beacon of light for many of us. One we could run to when we were down. She was beautiful and funny and charming. She had a southern belle charm that melted hearts and a hug that squeezed all your worries away. She was truly one of a kind and definitely irreplaceable.
