Lonnie Cohen

Inspired all
Fashion designer
Visionary

Lonnie left us on April 24, 2021 at 2:48 pm.
When Lonnie’s heart stopped so did mine, I was devastated. Lonnie had much to do. I saw Lonnie at the hospital on Friday evening, the 23rd and he was in top form. We talked about fashion design, a future pillow business, our lives  in NY as kids and what our new home on Palmetto was going to be. We focused on the future.

Lonnie inspired me. He was creating a line of women’s suits that promised to be a future business. He was going to turn his many fashion drawings into paintings. He was creating pillow prototypes to develop and manufacture. And on top of it all we just moved into a new home that we built together and were getting ready put the final touches on it to enjoy.

Lonnie had so much to do and so much to give. He was a people magnet, and loved to start up conversations. He loved people and people loved him.

In essence Lonnie was a true visionary. As a young art student he could forecast fashion trends and was right on the money. He thought like a designer with an editor’s eye.

Lonnie was focused on the future with accomplishments in sight. Today Lonnie was laid to rest in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Largo. His inspiration will live on. He was a gift to many and will be missed.

The care of Mr. Cohen and his family has been entrusted to David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg.
