Obituary of Betty Jean (Vairus) Bennett

Betty Jean Bennett, 84, of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Sutersville, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021, after a short illness. Betty was born November 10, 1936 in Sutersville to Frank and Elizabeth (Clement) Vairus.  Prior to moving to Florida in 2002, Betty, a devout Catholic, attended St. Charles Church in Sutersville.  She worked as her town’s Tax Collector and retired from Giant Eagle.  Once in Florida, Betty attended both St. Jude the Apostle Cathedral and Pasadena Community Church with her husband.  She was involved in her local garden club, as well as the Red Hat Society.  Betty loved her family and friends, cooking and baking, as well as decorating for every holiday.  Betty’s warm personality and bright smile were welcoming to everyone she knew and anyone she met.  Betty is survived by her husband, Leslie Bennett, her stepdaughter, LeeAnn Rodriguez along with her husband, Marco, her grandson, Bennett Rodriguez, and granddaughter, Gina Rodriguez, as well as her beloved silky terrier Suter.  In addition to her immediate family, Betty has numerous family members in the Sutersville area. All those who knew and loved her will miss Betty immensely.  A committal service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2021, in West Newton Cemetery. Arrangements in West Newton entrusted to the J. William McCauley, Jr. Funeral Home, West Newton, PA.  

The care of Betty Jean Bennett and her family has been entrusted to David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg.
