Obituary of William Stockton

William Austin Stockton, 43, died on April 26, 2020.

He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 26, 1977, son of William T. Stockton III and Marlee Soderstrom.  He is survived by his parents, his sister Lee, his niece Lexi, his nephew Eric and his daughter Graysen. He is predeceased by his grandparents, and is a descendant of Richard Stockton, member of the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Austin graduated from St Mark’s Episcopal Day School in Jacksonville in 1990, and the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia in 1996, where he excelled in athletics, particularly in wrestling and baseball.  He then attended the College of Charleston beginning in the fall of 1996.

After attending the College of Charleston, Austin felt the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1998, serving honorably until 2002, and was awarded the good conduct medal and overseas service ribbon.

He was a lifelong Florida Gators fan, in all kinds of weather, as well as an avid golfer.  Austin also loved boating and fishing, especially with his daughter Graysen. He was also an active member of Red White and Blue (RWB) in Tampa, FL and loved to participate in runs for charity.
