Steve and Emily Shumaker posted a condolence

I’ll always be grateful for the past 5 years I spent working with (and literally right next to) Steve. Like so many others have said, mentor, father-figure, and friend are all the words that come to mind when I think of Steve. He was always there with home-buying advice, a restaurant tip, and of course I wouldn’t take a trip without first asking Steve, because he had probably been there 5 times. He truly was a role-model on how to be the best husband and father. My condolences to Kris and the entire Grant family.
Thoughts and prayers,
Steve and Emily Shumaker

I will never forget the kindness, interest and support Steve showed when we were beginning what is now the Vinik program at USF. He was so proud of Jamie being part of the original class and was so kind to me in my transition to Tampa. RIP Steve you were a true difference maker, a great father and a great man

Our entire family is thinking about you and your family during this difficult time. I feel blessed to have known Steve and see him around campus for all of these years. What an incredible man, husband and father he was. It was obvious what a great team you both were and how much you enjoyed each other. It was beautiful to see such love. Shorecrest will not be the same. But please know that we are all here for you. Big hugs to you Kris. ❤️
Much love, Darby and family

Steve was my friend, mentor, father figure, and boss. He truly cared about each employee here at Mad Mobile. I loved how he wanted to meet new employees on their first day to answer any questions they might have about the company, express how he would always be available to chat about work or share words of wisdom on life, and to find a common connection he shared with them.
Steve loved his wife and kids more than anyone I’ve ever known. Steve didn’t let a day go by without giving me an update on his family. He was so proud and shared their accomplishments with everyone he met.
My deepest condolences go out to his family. I’m praying for your peace and comfort during this very difficult time.
Steve is gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

I am still in complete shock and disbelief. Steve was one of the most genuine and thoughtful people I have ever known and I am proud to have been a close friend of his for the past 8 years while working together at Mad Mobile. He cared so much about everyone here and would always be there to help in any personal matter. I know he has helped guide me down the right path many times. His wisdom and advice will forever be missed.
To Kris and the kids I am so sorry for your loss. I know he loved you and the kids more than anything in the world. I always remember how his face lit up with joy when speaking to me about you and all the great experiences you had together.

I have no words to express the sadness I feel today over the loss of the best boss I ever had the pleasure of working for, Steve. I can’t even begin to imagine what his family must be feeling knowing how close they all were. Steve was the type of person to put down everything and anything he was doing if one of his kids or his wife Kris were calling him. He was such a great role model, such a great teacher, and genuinely cared about what was going on in everyone in the offices lives. He was always there to listen and help me with any type of problem I came to him for and he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family right now.

Steve was a great friend, colleague, and family man. His door was always open to listen and help. He helped me through several tough times and I thank him for it. When he wasn't listening, he was talking about Kris and his children. Every colleague (and even candidates he'd interview) would hear all about the recent achievements of his children from football games to swim meets to academic success to their professional jobs. He was such a proud and loving Dad. The Mad Mobile family and I will miss Steve.

I am deeply saddened by our loss. Steve’s passing will have a profound impact on many lives. He was a well-loved man by so many. He IS a well-loved man by so many. I likely echo many others by writing that Steve was one of the most genuinely kind people one could ever meet. I knew Steve for a little over five years and I will miss being able to sit and chat with him. I will miss his wise counsel. I will miss joking around with him. I will miss his laugh. I will miss him.
I will pray for everyone’s peace and strength in this difficult time.
My deepest condolences.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; He guideth me in straight paths for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” - Psalm 23
