Obituary of Helen Heller

HELLER, Helen Glazier, 79 of St. Petersburg. Died Monday, March 19, 2007 at Palms of Pasadena Hospital after a brief illness. She came here in 1999 from her native Gouverneur, New York. She was a founder of the Gouverneur Community Players and taught high school English, speech and drama. She earned a B.A. in three years at Ohio State and an M.A. at SUNY Potsdam. She was an active member of Congregation B'nai Israel and it's Sisterhood; and a docent at the Florida Holocaust Museum, both in St. Petersburg. She was a member of the Dali Museum and a life member of Hadassah. She was born to Russian-Jewish refugees; and designed and implemented a successful Holocaust curriculum for adolescents, years before Holocaust education was required in public schools. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Sanders; four sons, Howard and David, both of Seattle, WA., Stephen, Los Angeles, CA., Jeffrey, Cranford, NJ; five grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11 AM on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in the David C. Gross Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Largo. David C.
