Miriam Barshefsky was a leader and inspiration, with her keen mind and love for Israel. When I arrived in town in 1979, she was one of the champions of the St. Petersburg Chapter of Hadassah. I learned a lot from her in discussions and meetings. I'll miss her wit and will honor her memory through Hadassah.

I will never forget as a child growing up that everytime I walked across the street to visit Miriam had a nosh for me and Gus would loan me his tools. Thank you for being my neighbors.

Miriam and Gus lived next to us and we became close friends for many years. As a family, we shared many good times with Miriam and Gus. Later on after Gus passed and Miriam could not drive, she would occasionally come with us to the grocery store. Miriam was a very pleasant woman to visit with and share stories. We missed her when she moved away to be close to her children. We kept in touch whenever possible. She will be missed. She is now reunited with Gus under God's care.
