Obituary of Wanda Lois Siegle

Wanda Lois Bradley Voigt Siegle, of St Petersburg, Florida, passed away on September 27, 2018, after a long struggle with dementia. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Wanda grew up near Bardstown and graduated from Holy Cross High School and, later, Nazareth College. Wanda was warm, kind and generous. Everyone who ever met her liked her. She was independent and adventurous. After marrying her first husband, George Q. Voigt, she lived in California, Indiana and Kentucky while raising their seven children. After George’s death, she married Raymond Siegle and moved to Florida where they were owner-operators of Sunshine Laundry. Wanda was proud of her Irish heritage and also fond of her Kentucky home. She took great joy in being a Kentucky Colonel. Her creative talent was shown in her sewing, painting, acting, and teaching. She loved the outdoors, nature and wildlife, especially her birds. She enjoyed gardening and took great pleasure in harvesting her grapes, avocados, and grapefruit. Most of all she loved her family. She is survived by her children: Cheryl (Samuel) Smith; Quentin (Patty) Voigt; Joanelle (William) Kelly; Bradley (Amy) Voigt; Glenn (Robin) Voigt; Geoffrey (Jenny) Voigt; and Mark (Lucretia) Voigt; her eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers: Donald (Vienna) Bradley; John (Anne)Bradley; sister-in-law, Juil Bradley; brother-in-law, Roger Leggett, and many nieces and nephews. Gratitude and appreciation go to the “Sunshine Girls”, her caregivers, Gail, Keisha, and Cheryl for their loving care and devotion. Wanda will be remembered for her indomitable spirit, the sparkle in her blue eyes, and her bright smile. She will live on in our hearts. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-5 pm on Thursday, October 4 at the David C. Gross Funeral Home, 6366 Central Avenue, St. Petersburg. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 am Friday, October 5 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 501 26th Street West, Palmetto, FL 34221.
