Obituary of Michael Puls

Michael Puls, 54, a gentle follower of the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on November 28, 2014. Michael grew up in Glen Ellyn, IL and graduated from Glenbard West High School in 1979. He earned a degree from the University of Illinois, then moved to Tampa where he studied neuropsychology at the University of South Florida and graduated with a Master's degree in Psychology. For many years, he worked to help others as a peer counselor at Northside Mental Health Center in Tampa. Although he struggled with disabilities of his own, his determined and compassionate spirit never wavered. He will be remembered for his gentle generosity, strong determination, eloquent poetry, goofy sense of humor, love of family, devout Catholic faith, and so much more. Michael is survived by his mother Elizabeth Jager, father Earl Puls, stepfather Linn Jager, stepmother Ann Puls, sisters Mary Puls Drake (Wally), Ellen Puls Drizin (Scott), and Kathleen Puls Andrade (Jose), nieces Shannon and Jenna, as well as two aunts, an uncle, and seven cousins. A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 AM on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Michael's name to St. Vincent de Paul or the charity of your choice. David C.
